Anatomical Reconstruction for Malunited Foot and Ankle Fractures

Malunions and nonunions after foot and ankle fractures regularly result in painful deformities and severe functional restrictions in the affected patients. The mainstay of treatment for most of these conditions is a corrective fusion with the aim of reducing pain and achieving a stable, plantigrade foot. For most of the joints, there is no feasible prosthetic replacement option. Joint-sparing corrections aim at anatomic realignment of bones and joints in order to regain a maximum of foot function.
