Blacklegged Ticks Found in Half of U.S. Counties
Annapolis, MD; January 19, 2016 -- Lyme disease is transmitted by the blacklegged tick (Ixodes scapularis) and the western blacklegged tick (Ixodes pacificus), and the range of these ticks is spreading, according to research published in the Journal of Medical Entomology.
