"The people who live here say it could be any Chilean village. Except that Villa Las Estrellas is in #Antarctica. Fewer than 200 people live in this outpost, which was founded in 1984, when Chile wanted to bolster its territorial claims in Antarctica. Since then, entire families have been exposed to isolation and extreme conditions in an attempt to arrive at some semblance of normal life at the bottom of the planet. That means enduring long stretches with only a few hours of sunlight each day, among many other things. @danielberehulak photographed some of the small homes in Villa Las Estrellas, where Chilean Air Force families live.
