Patients to be given treatments less likely to damage immune system and in some cases able to be taken at homeNHS England is spending £160m on new “Covid-friendly” cancer drugs that will be less likely to damage the immune system and, in some cases, can be taken at home so that patients do not have to visit hospital.NHS England said 2,000 patients had already benefitted from a range of treatments approved for use as “swaps” for existing drugs. In this study, the relationship between P2X7R activation and p38 phosphorylation in the dorsal root ganglion (DRG) and spinal dorsal horn (SDH) in the development and maintenance of BTZ-induced neuropathic pain was elucidated. The results showed that BTZ increased mechanical thresholds in rats, accompanied with upregulation of P2X7R expression and p38MAPK phosphorylation, indicating that P2X7R and p38MAPK are key molecules in the development and maintenance of BTZ-induced neuropathic pain. Inhibiting p38MAPK phosphorylation with SB203580 resulted in downregulation of P2X7R expression levels. Inhibition of P2X7R with Brilli...

CONCLUSIONS ALC and LMR can serve as surrogate markers for patients' antitumor immunity at the initial diagnosis of multiple myeloma. A new immune-related staging system, L-ISS, which combines ALC and the ISS staging system, can predict clinical outcomes in patients who are receiving bortezomib-based chemotherapy. Authors: Sanchez L, Barley K, Richter J, Franz J, Cho HJ, Jagannath S, Madduri D, Parekh S, Richard S, Chari A Abstract INTRODUCTION: Recent advances and drug approvals in the last decade have substantially changed the landscape of relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM), with not only improved outcomes for patients, but also increased complexity of treatment decisions. The approvals are based on randomized studies of novel agents added to an immunomodulatory drug (IMiD) or proteasome inhibitor (PI) backbone showing an improvement in outcomes. However, differences in enrolled patient populations/study desig...
