Impact Of Simulation Design Elements on Undergraduate Nursing Education: A Systematic Review

Simulation-based education (SBE) is a teaching method used globally to facilitate student learning across numerous disciplines (Chernikova et al., 2020). Within the discipline of nursing, SBE is a signature pedagogy to prepare students for clinical placements and develop work-ready graduates (Rooney, Hopwood, Boud,& Kelly, 2015). SBE is reported to improve a variety of learning outcomes in undergraduate nursing education, including knowledge (Berndt, 2014; Cant& Cooper, 2014; Fisher& King, 2013; Weaver, 2011), psychomotor skills (Lee& Oh, 2015; Ross, 2012; Vincent, Sheriff,& Mellott, 2015), self-efficacy (Franklin& Lee, 2014), confidence, competence and satisfaction (Berndt, 2014; Blum& Parcells, 2012; Cant& Cooper, 2014; Fisher& King, 2013).
