Maximizing Your Experience When Attending a Professional Conference

Each spring I look forward to attending various professional conferences, including our state-wide Nurse Practitioner Spring Symposium (NPSS), a regional conference dedicated to nursing research, and the American Association of Nurse Practitioner (AANP) conference each June, among others. When attending these meetings, I engage in different, equally important, roles as participant, speaker, and committee volunteer, in addition to using the time to network with friends and colleagues. As I reflect on my career as a nurse practitioner (NP), my motivations for attending professional conferences have evolved.
