Radiomics for clinical decision support in radiation oncology

Radiomics is a promising tool for the development of quantitative biomarkers to support clinical decision-making. It has been shown to improve the prediction of response to treatment and outcome in different settings, particularly in the field of radiation oncology by optimising the dose delivery solutions and reducing the rate of radiation-induced side effects, leading to a fully personalised approach.Despite the promising results offered by radiomics at each of these stages, standardised methodologies, reproducibility and interpretability of results are still lacking, limiting the potential clinical impact of these tools.
