Preface

Over 20 years ago, both of us entered the operating room with a completely different landscape. There was an improved understanding of anatomic fixation of fractures and a widespread acceptance of open reduction and internal fixation principles. However, the superior results achieved by these techniques faced appropriate skepticism, which forced the orthopedic and podiatric community to continue to advance technology, research, and training.
