Closing the gap on racial disparities —Increasing race and ethnicity demographics reporting in the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology Clinic Outcome Reporting System Registry

Even though recording race and ethnicity has been a mandatory reporting field in the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology Clinic Outcome Reporting System (SART CORS) since the 1990s, up to 48% of cycles reported to SART CORS have been missing this basic demographic metric since 1999. There has been an incremental improvement over the past 20 years, and missing data decreased to 36% for the 2014 –2019 reporting period (1). Although it is unlikely that there would ever be 100% compliance in reporting race and ethnicity in a registry, even this “improved” number is disturbingly high.
