Application of an Antiracism Framework to Improve Pediatric APRN Education

Health disparities persist despite increased access to health benefits, technological advances, and disease screening improvements that promote early diagnosis. Health disparities are strongly correlated with adverse social determinants of health (SDOH) that arise from social, environmental, and economic inequities, including racism at all levels. These inequities include limited access to healthy food, quality education, safe neighborhoods, and opportunities for economic advancement. The impact of adverse SDOH on a person's health is cumulative and disproportionately affects poor people and people from racial and ethnic historically marginalized communities (HCM).
