Beyond the H-Index and Toward a Comprehensive Framework

We would like to convey our gratitude for the insightful letter authored in response to our article addressing the importance of extending considerations beyond the H-index in faculty promotion assessments. The author brings attention to the drawbacks linked to the H-index, elucidating issues such as gift authorship, the impact of senior positions on credit distribution, and the potential compromise of research integrity through strategic networking. These observations align with overarching concerns regarding the dependability and sufficiency of citations and H-indices as exclusive metrics for evaluating academic contributions.
