We appreciate the concerns and assumptions outlined in the recent letter to the editor regarding our report on large language models in health care [1]. However, there are additional dimensions to consider regarding the potential of this technology. The capabilities of generative artificial intelligence (AI), as they exist today, represent a baseline; in other words, they are the “worst” they will ever be. Generative AI is evolving at an exponential rate, and its future capabilities are poised to far surpass its current state.
