The Future of Interventional Radiology Should Be Continued Alignment With Diagnostic Radiology

When Aneesa and I were looking for jobs after fellowship, it was clear that we wanted jobs where we could practice 100% interventional radiology (IR). The prospect of reading even one plain film made our stomachs turn. Why, then, are we diehard interventional radiologists going to make the argument that IR should stay aligned and remain within the diagnostic radiology (DR) department? The simple answer: financial benefits, politics, navigating the unknown, and education.
