Sensorized Endovascular Technologies: Additional Data to Enhance Decision-Making

Current endovascular procedures rely mostly on anatomic information, guided by fluoroscopy, to perform interventions (i.e. angioplasty, stent placement, coils). However, the structural parameters provided by these imaging technologies do not provide any physiological data on either the disease state or efficacy of intervention. Additional endovascular tools are needed to collect physiologic and other both anatomic and nonanatomic data to further individualize endovascular interventions with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes.
