Is it okay to have a medical doctor write a letter of recommendation for me for pharmacy school admission?

The discussion title explains my question. I shadowed this medical doctor 7 years ago. It seems crazy to say that because time really does fly by. It does not seem like it was that long ago. Plans have changed for me, and I am applying to pharmacy school. I was originally planning to attend medical school, but competition to get in stateside was too high and I heeded warning not to attend offshore at any for-profit school.
