Seeing Beyond the Screen: Integrating Trauma- and Violence-Informed Care During a Telehealth Simulation
It is reported that 20% of the adult population are victims of intimate partner violence (IPV) in the United States (Chisholm, Bullock,& Ferguson, 2017). Violence and aggression may occur in any intimate relationship (American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists ACOG, 2022). Fernandez Lopez et al. (2022) reported IPV rates as high as 28% during the perinatal period. Because pregnant people experiencing IPV are twice as likely to die of homicide-related death, it is critical that nurses identify patients exper iencing violence in their relationships (D'Angelo et al., 2022; Wallace, Gillispie-Bell, Cruz, Davis,& Vilda, 2021).
