The Role of the Wider Organization and Community in Meaningful Nurse Manager Recognition

The span of control of the nurse manager role argues for an interdependent approach to generate meaningful nurse manager recognition. As part of a larger descriptive qualitative study, nurse managers, directors, and chief nursing officers (CNOs) were interviewed using open-ended semistructured questions to examine a culture and climate of meaningful recognition. The purpose of this article is to advance the call to improve nurse manager recognition by the wider health care organization and community.
