Development of a Multiple-Patient Simulation and its Effectiveness in Clinical Judgment and Practice Readiness: A Randomized Controlled Trial

A Multiple Patient Simulation (MPS) involves multiple low-fidelity or high-fidelity simulators in one simulation setting (Horsley,  Bensfield, Sojka,& Schmitt, 2014). Previous research indicates MPS is a promising educational method that reflects the reality of nurses who must care for multiple patients simultaneously (Powers  et al., 2020). Based on the observation that nursing students in MPSs have difficulties prioritizing and solving problems, Beroz (2016) suggested nurses train to care for multiplepatients simultaneously before transitioning from the educational environment to a clinical environment.
