Editors ’ choice

Three papers highlight the important issue of how varied perspectives can be incorporated most effectively into the research and guidelines process in the August 2023 issue of the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology (JCE). Akl and colleagues present an interesting taxonomy for stakeholder (or research-user) interests in guidelines in their commentary “A new taxonomy is proposed for defining the interests of stakeholders’ representatives in health research: the case of guideline development” [1]. Their taxonomy classifies research-user's perspectives into conflicts of interest or non-conflicts of interest.
