Applying the Health Action Process Approach to lifestyle changes in women at postmenopause: the case of an exercise program for health promotion
Low physical activity is known to be a potential risk factor for poor quality of life and chronic diseases after menopause. To increase regular moderate-to-vigorous exercise in postmenopausal women, a supervised exercise program was implemented within a health promotion intervention for modifying lifestyle in early postmenopause. Besides, an intervention for facilitating health-behavior change based on the tenets of the Health Action Process Approach model was also implemented to promote intention and active behavior change.
