Tytocare ’s AI-Powered Wheeze Detection Impresses with Thoughtful Design

Earlier this year, Tytocare received FDA approval for its AI-based solution that analyzes lung sounds captured via its handheld home care device. The thoughtful way that the AI was incorporated into the overall design of the solution is impressive. The AI blends seamlessly into the background and feels like a natural addition to the workflow. Exactly the way technology ideally is supposed to work in healthcare. AI as co-pilot, Clinician as pilot Tyto Insights for Wheeze Detection, looks for specific lung sounds in the lung recordings that may suggest wheezing. Wheezing is an indicator that there may be a respiratory issue that the clinician may want to investigate further. Healthcare IT Today had the opportunity speak to Eran Hertzmann, VP of Product at Tytocare to learn more about their solution and get a live demonstration. The experience for patients was impressive. The prompts and graphics on the handheld unit made it very easy to place it in the correct position to get a good reading. The interface for the clinicians was simple and easy to understand. Plus, the AI analysis of the lung sounds happens in the background so by the time it arrives in the clinician’s queue, it is already flagged if a wheeze was detected. This is akin to how AI is used in radiology to assist with prioritizing the queue of images to be read by a radiologist. The Tytocare Wheeze Detection solution adds a new tool to an already impressive line of home care products. Learn more about Tytocare at...
