Peer-reviewed journals are the vehicle through which updated evidence-based findings are disseminated throughout the world, and the article editors approve for publication has far-reaching implications. Historically, published authors have been overwhelmingly affiliated with US institutions. The lack of international collaboration has signified a missed opportunity for the enhancement of academic productivity. With the globalization of the information economy over the past few decades, a shift toward greater international representation in vascular surgery research would be expected.
