Long-term effects of tear film component deposition on the surface and optical properties of two different orthokeratology lenses

The prevalence of myopia is increasing worldwide, and the condition is predicted to affect almost half of the world ’s population by 2050 [1]. To treat myopia, most commonly, a person may wear single-vision spectacles or contact lenses daily, or a surgical treatment such as refractive surgery may be applied [2]. Many people choose to wear contact lenses for the convenience they provide when participating in spo rts or outdoor activities. Orthokeratology (ortho-k) lenses are an alternative option that reshape the anterior cornea with a reverse geometry design; by wearing them overnight, patients can temporarily have normal vision during the daytime [3].
