Fundamental role of intermittent fetal monitoring in the management of water births

Implications for practice and research As delivery agents, midwives are required to provide delivery services based on the best evidence available, but they must also pay attention to the request and need of women for coping with labour pains and water birth is one of the methods supported for reducing labour pains. However, midwives should pay attention to the organisational guidelines. Incorporating more evidence from midwifery studies into hospital treatment protocols can provide water birth specialists with more resources in order to facilitate this type of delivery more safely in the hospital.
