A new orthotic solution for radial nerve injury

Radial nerve palsy (RNP) is a common and debilitating condition that may result from a variety of upper extremity injuries.1,2 Depending on the level of injury, the patient will typically present with “wrist drop,” characterized by an inability to actively supinate, extend the wrist/digital metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joints, and palmarly abduct the thumb. Activities of daily living may be limited due to an imbalance and lack of synergy with grasp and release function. Most cases (70%) of RNP r esolve within 1 year.
