Wednesday Bible Study; The restoration

Sorry I haven ' t been keeping up my regular blogging lately, it almost seems there is too much to write about. What I plan to do now is post material adapted from the book, although it ' s hard to pull out short enough posts. On another matter, I ' m happy to post comments that take issue with me, but they have to be reasonably coherent and logically respectable. Also, as I have said many times, some people are banned, for good reason. Now, as for today ' s chapter, what happens is that the Levite priests restore the rightful king to power. That is the point of this story, that the legitimacy of the kingdom derives from the priesthood, as the representatives of God. And that is, I think, the underlying purpose of the entire book.23 In the seventh year Jehoiada showed his strength. He made a covenant with the commanders of units of a hundred: Azariah son of Jeroham, Ishmael son of Jehohanan, Azariah son of Obed, Maaseiah son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat son of Zikri.2 They went throughout Judah and gathered the Levites and the heads of Israelite families from all the towns.
