Medicine applications are more likely to result in an interview if you apply strategically when you know your UCAT result. It is quite common for people to have a favourite shortlist of unis. Then they learn, after sitting the ucat, that they would be unlikely to be interviewed at them because of how each uni selects people for interview. Some unis give a higher weighting to GCSEs than others. Some uni websites show the lowest ucat score they accept while not clearly communicating that the ucat cut-off score for non-contextual applicants is much higher.
