Think twice before you postpone your mammogram

More than a century of history surrounds breast cancer screening. Some form of mammography has been available since the early 1900s. By the 1960s, mammography became a widely used diagnostic tool and in 1976 the American Cancer Society broadly recommended it for screening. Today mammography is the gold standard for breast cancer screening.
