The Development and Implementation of Implicit Bias Simulation Scenarios: Lessons Learned

Implicit bias is the unconscious collection of stereotypes and attitudes that develop toward certain groups of people, which can affect patient relationships and care decisions (Edgoose,  Quiogue,& Sidhar, 2019). The number of studies investigating implicit bias of health care providers and its troubling consequences has increased exponentially (Hagiwara,  Kron, Scerbo,& Watson, 2020). Implicit biases among health care professionals exist, together with a negative correlation between level of bias and indicators of quality of care (FitzGerald& Hurst,  2017).
