Vulnerable Populations: Erasing the Margins to Advance Health Equity

For the last three decades, the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion has issued 10-year objectives for improving health and well-being. Each iteration has specific foci that includes measurable goals. At the culmination of each 10-year decade, progress is evaluated, and the findings from previous decades are used to build upon lessons learned and apply that information to ongoing Healthy People efforts. The most current iteration, Healthy People 2030, released in 2020, includes a more amplified focus on health equity, Social Determinants of Health (SDOH), health literacy, and well-being.
