Publication date: August 2013 Source:Biochemical Systematics and Ecology, Volume 49 Author(s): Lais Cobianchi J. Araujo , Virgínia C. da Silva , Evandro L. Dall'Oglio , Paulo Teixeira de Sousa Jr. This work describes the isolation and characterization of four flavonoids from the methanolic extract of the flowers of Combretum lanceolatum. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of various spectroscopic methods (UV, IV and NMR, including 2D experiments) and identified as dillenetin (1), isorhamnetin (2), quercetin (3) and 3-O-methyl quercetin (4). Compounds (1), (2) and (4) were isolated from Combretum genus for the first time.
