Equity, diversity, and inclusivity statement

In 2021, the Academy's Diversity and Inclusivity (D&I) Committee reviewed the Academy's existing Diversity and Inclusivity statement, which was last updated in 2016. The draft was shared with the Academy's membership and an open comment period provided Fellows the opportunity to provide feedback and recommendations. The statement was adopted by the Board of Directors in September of 2021, and was published in October. Among notable changes included adding the word “equity” and placing it at the forefront of the new Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity statement, as well as acknowledging that the Academy will work towards dismantling structural and systemic racism, which lead to health disparities.
