Reducing No-Show Appointments in Preanesthesia Screening
CONCLUSIONS: Implementation of a reminder system can help to reduce no-show rates in clinics. Patient no-shows overload the health system by reducing the productivity of providers and waste resources including use of clinic staff, longer wait times for other patients, and the timing providers put into chart preparation.PMID:38661585 | DOI:10.1016/j.jopan.2023.12.030 (Source: Journal of Perianesthesia Nursing)

Nursing Students' Operating Room Experiences: A Qualitative Meta-Synthesis
Missed nursing care is a condition that is likely to be encountered frequently in the surgical care process and is generally related to the educational and emotional needs of the patients. Perception of and witnessing missed care can affect nursing images, expectations, and experiences by causing nursing students to experience professional disappointment. The purpose of the study was to explore nursing students' perception of missed perioperative nursing care according to “role theory” and Benner's “novice to expert” theories. Patient-Centerdness in the Perioperative Period-A Rapid Review of Current Research
CONCLUSIONS: This rapid review suggests that patient preparedness, particularly through shared decision-making and providing information, is a recurring theme in the limited studies on patient- or person-centerdness in the perioperative context. The fact that only one single study focuses on person-centered care underscores the pressing need for a comprehensive re-evaluation of modern perioperative care.PMID:38613539 | DOI:10.1016/j.jopan.2023.12.028 (Source: Journal of Perianesthesia Nursing)
