Visual verticality perception after stroke: A systematic review of methodological approaches and suggestions for standardization
Conclusions This first review of VV assessment methods after stroke shows a great heterogeneity of procedures, settings and parameters, among which only some are eligible for standardization to limit measurement errors and better interpret the results.

GABAergic drug use and global, cognitive, and motor functional outcomes after stroke
Conclusions GABA-AG use is associated with not reaching successful functional recovery during stroke rehabilitation. Randomised trials are needed to formally establish the potential deleterious effect of GABA-AG use on functional recovery.

Transcultural adaptation and validation of the Pediatric Stroke Outcome Measure - summary of impressions (PSOM-SOI) into French
Discussion/conclusion The PSOM-SOI can be used to reliably grade neurological examination for children following a stroke, besides raters with different level of clinical experience. However, additional development and validation work is required using a clinical exam to improve the prospective validation of the complete PSOM.

Effect of subtypes of neglect on functional outcome in stroke patients
Conclusions Our data confirm the negative prognostic effect of neglect on functional outcome in a large sample. We also show the importance of evaluating and training according to neglect subtype to improve functional independence.

Five-day course of paired associative stimulation fails to improve motor function in stroke patients
Conclusion We failed to induce a lasting effect with PAS in the present study. PAS does not seem to be the main method for post-stroke brain stimulation. Perhaps recruitment of patients could be more selective, possibly targeting those with a wide altered ipsilesional corticomotor pathway.

Validation of French upper-limb Erasmus modified Nottingham Sensory Assessment in stroke
Conclusions The French EmNSA is a valid and reproducible scale that can be used for comprehensive and accurate assessment of somatosensory modalities in adults post-stroke. Taking less than 30min to administer, the instrument has clinical utility for use in patients with cognitive comorbidities and at various stages of recovery in multidisciplinary clinical practice and research settings.

Effect of visuospatial neglect on spatial navigation and heading after stroke
ConclusionThe ipsilesional bias arising from VSN influences the modulation of heading in response to obstacles and, along with the adoption of the “riskier” strategies, contribute to the higher number colliders and poor goal-directed walking abilities in stroke survivors with VSN. Future research should focus on developing assessment and training tools for complex locomotor tasks such as obstacle avoidance in this population.

Patients’ outcome expectations and their fulfilment in multidisciplinary stroke rehabilitation
ConclusionsIn half of the stroke patients in multidisciplinary rehabilitation, expectations were fulfilled or exceeded, most likely in patients with low expectations at admission and with improved health-related quality of life. More research into the role of health professionals regarding the measurement, shaping and management of outcome expectations is needed.
