Sex Disparities in Discharge Ambulation Status after Acute Ischemic Stroke: The Florida-Puerto Rico Collaboration to Reduce Stroke Disparities (FL-PR CReSD) (P5.145)
Conclusions:Only half of AIS survivors were able to ambulate independently after stroke at discharge. Independent ambulation at discharge was less likely achieved in women than men, particularly among patients who were able to independently ambulate before stroke. Future studies should examine the underlying causes of worse ambulation outcomes in women.Disclosure: Dr. Oluwole has nothing to disclose. Dr. Wang has nothing to disclose. Increased Prevalence of Early Post Stroke Depression Among Single Women after Ischemic Stroke. (P5.147)
Conclusions:PSD is very frequent, affecting nearly half of female stroke patients, particularly if they are single. The symptoms may be somatic, affecting energy levels and sleep. Identification of patients at high risk of PSD will enable early treatment, with improved outcomes and quality of life.Study Supported by: Ethel and James Flinn FoundationDisclosure: Dr. Kucab has received personal compensation for activities with National Hemophilia Foundation as a consultant. A Rare Neurological Complication of Waldenstroms Macroglobulinemia (P5.183)
Conclusions:Diagnostic approach to bilateral FNP should evaluate for: traumatic (skull fractures), infectious (classically Lyme disease), metabolic (diabetes), autoimmune (sarcoidosis, Guillain-Barré syndrome), congenital (Moebius syndrome) and neoplastic (brainstem tumors) entities. WM is a rare cause, a condition due to low-grade B cell lymphoma where lymphoplasmacytoid cells infiltrate different tissues and secrete monoclonal IgM. Peripheral neuropathy develops in 15–30% of the cases, usually a chronic, progressive, symmetric, predominantly distal polyneuropathy. Facial nerve impairment is unusual, caused b...

Dalfampridine Treatment in Nonarteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy (NAION) (P5.202)
Conclusions:This study failed to find a statistically significant benefit of dalfampridine in NAION, an infarct in the optic nerve. However, 7 patients did show improvement as defined by VA of 0.1 logMAR or more on drug and not placebo, and 5 patients showed an improvement of VA as defined by 0.3 logMar or more on drug and not placebo. This suggests a possible subgroup of "responders" similar to the findings of dalfampridine in MS. A larger and perhaps longer clinical trial might clarify whether dalfampridine is beneficial for a subgroup of NAION patients.Study Supported by: Acorda TherapeuticsDisclosure: Dr. Moster has no...

Thrombectomy Outcomes in Acute Ischemic Stroke due to Middle Cerebral Artery M2 Occlusion with Stent-Retriever, Aspiration, and MERCI: Multi-Center Experience (P5.251)
Conclusions:Thrombectomy for AIS patients with MCA M2 ELVO with Stent-retriever appears to be feasible with a significantly higher rate of recanalization, lower sICH rate, and favorable 90-day mRS when compared to Aspiration and MERCI.Disclosure: Dr. Atchaneeyasakul has nothing to disclose. The Effect of Endovascular Treatment on Outcome in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke Related to Isolated M2 Segment Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion (P5.252)

Is Endovascular Treatment Beneficial in Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients with M2 Segment Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion? (P5.253)
Conclusions:A randomized clinical trial should be considered based on the significant reduction in mortality and non-significant increase in functional independence and good quality of life following endovascular treatment in acute ischemic stroke patients with M2-segment occlusion.Disclosure: Dr. Aytac has nothing to disclose. Outcomes after Endovascular Therapy in a Population with Mild Acute Ischemic Stroke and Large Vessel Occlusion: Does Treatment Help? (P5.254)
Conclusions:It’s unclear whether IAT is beneficial in mild AIS and LVO. Interventional, multi-center studies with larger sample sizes are needed to definitively determine the efficacy of IAT. Though these data come from a small patient population, they offer an insight into the potential safety of IAT in a fragile stroke population.Disclosure: Dr. Fanale has nothing to disclose. Outcomes after Endovascular Therapy in a Population with Mild Acute Ischemic Stroke: A 6.5 Year Observational Cohort Study at a High-Volume Comprehensive Stroke Center (P5.255)
Conclusions:These data highlight the safety of IAT in patients with mAIS, mirroring the results seen in recent large RCTs in the non-mAIS population. Patients in our study had a zero risk of sICH, and a mortality rate similar to literature examining IV-tPA administration in patients with mAIS. Furthermore, a large proportion of patients showed a clinically meaningful improvement in NIHSS, or were discharged with a favorable mRS.Disclosure: Dr. Fanale has nothing to disclose. Outcomes for Endovascular Therapy for Large Vessel Occlusion in Patients 80 years and Older (P5.256)
Conclusions:Despite similar stroke severity, initial TICI grading, likelihood of having received IVtPA, and time from last know well to intervention, patients 80+ years who underwent IAT were significantly less likely to be discharged home or to acute rehab and had worse functional outcomes at 90 days. More nuanced analysis is necessary to determine characteristics that may identify patients 80+ who may be more likely to have good clinical outcomes after IAT.Disclosure: Dr. Wilson has nothing to disclose. Impact of Age on Revascularization and Early Outcomes Post Mechanical Thrombectomy in Acute Ischemic Strokes with Large Vessel Occlusion; A single center real world data analysis (P5.257)
Conclusions:Age above 80 is a predictor of poor outcome after ET irrespective of successful recanalization. Our results confirm the questions raised in previous subset analyses. The reason octogenarians do poorly remains unclear, but our data suggests factors other than TICI score and time to revascularization. Focused randomized control trials are needed to get a definitive answer.Disclosure: Dr. Niazi has nothing to disclose. Dr. E-Ghanmh has nothing to disclose. Dr. Cockroft has nothing to disclose. Mechanical Thrombectomy in Large Vessel Occlusion Stroke Patients with Low CT ASPECT score (P5.258)
Conclusions:ET in LVO patients with low ASPECTS result in high rate of sICH, especially in ASPECTS 0–5 compared to 6–7. Utilizing stent-retriever results in a significantly better rate of recanalization and favorable mRS-90 days with trend to lower sICH rate.Study Supported by: Not applicable.Disclosure: Dr. Bhatt has nothing to disclose.
