Non-pharmaceutical interventions in complementary and alternative medicine for insomnia in breast cancer survivors: a protocol for a systematic review and network meta-analysis
Introduction Insomnia has a high incidence in patients with breast cancer, which not only affects the quality of life of patients, but also affects the efficiency of later treatment and rehabilitation. Although the sedative and hypnotic drugs commonly used in clinical practice have a rapid onset of action, they are also accompanied by different degrees of sequelae, withdrawal effects and dependence and addiction. Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) or complementary and integrative medicine, complementary integrative therapies, including natural nutritional supplement therapy, psychotherapy, physical and mental exe...

Clinical features and novel technologies for prehospital detection of intracerebral haemorrhage: a scoping review protocol
Introduction The detection of intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH) in the prehospital setting without conventional imaging technology might allow early treatment to reduce haematoma expansion and improve patient outcomes. Although ICH and ischaemic stroke share many clinical features, some may help in distinguishing ICH from other suspected stroke patients. In combination with clinical features, novel technologies may improve diagnosis further. This scoping review aims to first identify the early, distinguishing clinical features of ICH and then identify novel portable technologies that may enhance differentiation of ICH from o...

Holistic mHealth interventions for the promotion of healthy ageing: protocol for a systematic review
Introduction Maintaining physical and mental health is essential for healthy ageing. It can be supported by modifying lifestyle factors such as physical activity and diet. Poor mental health, in turn, contributes to the opposing effect. The promotion of healthy ageing may therefore benefit from holistic interventions integrating physical activity, diet and mental health. These interventions can be scaled up to the population level by using mobile technologies. However, systematic evidence regarding the characteristics and effectiveness of such holistic mHealth interventions remains limited. This paper presents a protocol f...

Efficacy of non-pharmacological interventions on depressive symptoms in patients with Parkinsons disease: a study protocol for a systematic review and network meta-analysis
Introduction Depression is the most dominant non-motor symptom of Parkinson’s disease (PD), with a prevalence of up to 50%, and can lead to a range of psychiatric and psychological problems that can affect quality of life and overall functioning. While several randomised controlled trials (RCTs) have tested the effect of certain non-pharmacological interventions on the outcome of PD depression symptoms, the comparative benefits and harms of these remain unclear. We will conduct a systematic review and network meta-analysis to compare the efficacy and safety of different non-pharmacological interventions for patients ...

Systematic review of shared decision-making interventions for people living with chronic respiratory diseases
Conclusions These findings suggest developing an SDM intervention including a patient decision aid, healthcare professional training, and a consultation prompt could support patient PR decisions, and health-related outcomes. Using a complex intervention development and evaluation research framework will likely lead to more robust research, and a greater understanding of service needs when integrating the intervention within practice. Exploration of the unmet needs of patients diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis: a scoping review protocol
Introduction Interstitial lung diseases consist of a range of lung disorders, the most prevalent being idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). IPF is a chronic, progressive disease, resulting in loss of lung function and potentially significant impacts on quality of life. There is an increasing need to address unmet needs in this population as there is evidence that unmet needs may impact quality of life and health outcomes. The key objective of this scoping review is to define the unmet needs of patients living with a diagnosis of IPF and to identify gaps in the literature relating to unmet needs. Findings will inform the de...

Scoping review protocol exploring the relationship between food insecurity, mental health and diet intake among adolescents across the globe
Introduction Studies, exploring the effect of food insecurity on physical and mental health, have shown that food insecurity is associated with lower self-reports of physical and mental health. With the COVID-19 pandemic, food insecurity has increased leading to higher risks of poor mental health. Despite evidence of the negative implications of food insecurity on mental health, there is a paucity of research on these variables for adolescents specifically. The current evidence shows there is a gap in adolescent centred research linking mental health and food insecurity globally. Adolescence is a crucial period of developm...

Introduction Microcurrent therapy (MCT) is a rising conservative treatment for patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA). Considering its potential benefits and convenience, MCT’s application in those individuals with knee OA is capacious. However, no plausible clinical evidence has proved its unequivocal advantages in treating knee OA conservatively. The purpose of this study is to determine whether MCT is helpful in pain management and promoting function of knee OA and is safe in the treatment of knee OA in adult patients. Methods and analysis We will search through MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science a...
