The incidence of deep venous thrombosis in high-risk Indian neurosurgical patients: Need for early chemoprophylaxis?
Conclusion: There is a low incidence of DVT among the high risk neurosurgical population evaluated within the first 5 days of admission to NICU, limiting the need for early chemical thrombo-prophylaxis in these patients. With strict protocols for mechanical prophylaxis with passive leg exercise, early mobilization and serial femoral Doppler screening, heparin anticoagulation can be restricted within the first 5 days of ICU admission in high risk patients.

Lung ultrasound and blood gas-based classification of critically ill patients with dyspnea: A pathophysiologic approach
Conclusion: This classification gives an organized approach in managing patients with dyspnea. It predicts that patients with alveolar defect-consolidation are most sick of all the groups and need immediate intervention.

Transthoracic ultrasound assessment of B-lines for identifying the increment of extravascular lung water in shock patients requiring fluid resuscitation
Discussion : The number of B-lines increased in shock patients with positive net fluid balance and correlated to impaired oxygenation. These data supported the benefit of ultrasound for assessing the EVLW.

Evolving concepts of hemodynamic monitoring for critically ill patients
Olfa Hamzaoui, Xavier Monnet, Jean-Louis TeboulIndian Journal of Critical Care Medicine 2015 19(4):220-226The last decades have been characterized by a continuous evolution of hemodynamic monitoring techniques from intermittent toward continuous and real-time measurements and from an invasive towards a less invasive approach. The latter approach uses ultrasounds and pulse contour analysis techniques that have been developed over the last 15 years. During the same period, the concept of prediction of fluid responsiveness has also been developed and dynamic indices such as pulse pressure variation, stroke volume variation, a...

A case of misplaced permacath dialysis catheter
We report a case of misplaced dialysis catheter into the accessory hemiazygos vein which resulted in a large hemothorax, and we recommend the routine use of a fluoroscope for placement of dialysis catheters so as to avoid serious complications.
