Protocol of a multiphase study on telemedicine for older adults in primary care
Introduction Telemedicine (TM) has been adopted by many health authorities to limit unnecessary exposure during COVID-19. Prior to the pandemic, TM was associated with improvement of quality of life of older patients, low hospital admissions and nursing home placement, and high overall patients’ satisfaction due to convenience. However, older adults may face challenges to access TM, such as hearing, visual and cognitive decline, and limited access to Internet and devices. Ongoing vaccination campaigns and sanitary measures are keeping the pandemic under control, but new variants threaten public safety. Specific recom...

Understanding the implementation of interventions to improve the management of frailty in primary care: a rapid realist review
Conclusion There remain challenges to achieving successful implementation of frailty interventions in primary care. There were a key learning points under each family. First, targeted allocation of resources to address specific needs allows a greater alignment of skill sets and reduces overassessment of frail individuals. Second, earlier patient involvement may also improve intervention implementation and adherence. PROSPERO registration number The published protocol for the review is registered with PROSPERO (CRD42019161193).

Instruments in general practice to identify and to measure (over)burden due to informal care for caring relatives: a scoping review protocol
The objective of this review is to give an overview of instruments to identify and measure (over)burden of caring relatives in German general practice and to describe their characteristics. Methods and analysis We used the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) checklist in addition to the Joanna Briggs Institute Reviewer’s Manual to describe the aims and methods of the planned scoping reviews. This protocol has been registered with Open Science Framework (OSF), https://osf.io/9ce2k. Two reviewers will run the search to identify studies in four d...

Web-based interventions to improve blood pressure control in patients with hypertension: a protocol for a systematic review
Introduction Hypertension is the major cause of cardiovascular disease and mortality in the world. Blood pressure control (BPC) is recognised as a key measure in the management of hypertension. Several studies have been conducted assessing the impact of specific web-based interventions in improving BPC. J Family Med Prim Care. 2021 Apr;10(4):1639-1643. doi: 10.4103/jfmpc.jfmpc_1236_20. Epub 2021 Apr 29.ABSTRACTFamily Medicine is unique in that it recognizes the central role of the patient's context and the interplay of family dynamics, social relationships, cultural background, and economics in the causation and presentation of any illness and the response to any given treatment. Clinical audit on assessment of non-glycemic parameters in diabetic patients by physicians
CONCLUSION: This clinical audit showed that 90% of the patients had undergone only 4 of the 9 RSSDI recommended screening. The other parameters had been carried out in only among 40 to 60% of the patients. Thus, primary care physicians have to emphasize on the subtle but important criteria like ophthalmic examination, peripheral neuropathy and microalbuminuria during regular outpatient visits.PMID:34195125 | PMC:PMC8208193 | DOI:10.4103/jfmpc.jfmpc_2305_20

Excessive gestational weight gain: Assessing patients' and providers' perceptions
CONCLUSION: Healthy lifestyle in pregnancy is an important but underemphasized topic in antenatal care owing to barriers faced by patients and physicians, with unique socioeconomic considerations. This gap provides an opportunity to increase education of patients and providers and to develop patient-centred weight management interventions. By contrasting patient groups, our study reflected the importance of addressing social determinants of health in comprehensive care.PMID:34261727 | PMC:PMC8279683 | DOI:10.46747/cfp.6707e188
