Perfuze raises $3m seed round for Millipede stroke catheter
Perfuze said today that it raised more than $3 million for the Millipede catheter it’s developing to treat ischemic stroke. Although not quite in stealth mode, the Galway, Ireland-based firm is close-mouthed about its technology. J&J’s Biosense Webster buys Coherex Medical and its WaveCrest anti-stroke device
Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) subsidiary Biosense Webster said today that it acquired Coherex Medical for an undisclosed amount. J & J ’ s Cerenovus launches Galaxy G3 mini embolic coil, touts Arise II Embotrap study data
Johnson & Johnson‘s (NYSE:JNJ) Cerenovus division this week announced the launch of its Galaxy G3 Mini embolic coil and released data from a study of its Embotrap device designed to remove clots from the brain following ischemic stroke. The Galaxy G3 Mini coils are designed to be approximately 25% softer than the Galaxy G3 xsft coils, with an ultra-low coil profile and a primary wind diameter of 0.009 inches, which Cerenovus said is the lowest profile available in its Spectra line. Medtronic pays $150m for Medina Medical
Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) yesterday said it agreed to pay $150 million to acquire Medina Medical and its embolization coil for treating brain aneurysms. The Medina device is a self-expanding mesh designed to fill the inside of an aneurysm. Menlo Park, Calif.-based Medina won CE Mark approval in the European Union for the device in September 2014, a month after naming ex-Foundry partner Erik Engelson to be its new CEO. Back in October 2012, the company raised more than $6.5 million in an equity offering that aimed to raise $9.5 million. Medtronic acquires stent retriever cover-dev Lazarus Effect for $100m
Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) said today it acquired Campbell, Calif.-based stent-retriever cover developer Lazarus Effect for $100 million in an all-cash transaction. Codman Neuro acquires Neuravi
Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) business unit Codman Neuro said today it acquired Neuravi and its portfolio of neurovascular therapy technology for an undisclosed amount. Johnson & Johnson hosts launch party for Cerenovus neurovascular biz
Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) said today it launched its Cerenovus brand, which combined its Pulsar Vascular and Neuravi acquisitions and its remaining Codman Neuro neurological portfolio. Johnson & Johnson‘s (NYSE:JNJ) Codman Neuro said last week it picked up Pulsar Vascular, which produces the PulseRider device for treating brain aneurysms, for an undisclosed amount. The PulseRider is designed to shore up the blood vessels around wide-necked aneurysms at or near a bifurcation of the basilar tip or carotid terminus and facilitate the implantation of an embolization coil, without obstructing blood flow through the vessels, according to the company’s website. Boston Scientific (NYSE:BSX) said yesterday that it closed the $270 million buyout of Claret Medical and its Sentinel device, including a $50 million earnout pegged to a reimbursement win that just came in. Medtronic to pay $51m to settle Covidien, ev3 DoJ investigations
