Real-World Evaluation of Anticoagulant Treatment Patterns in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation: Data from Multicenter ROTA Study
CONCLUSIONS: The ROTA study provides important real-world information about anticoagulant treatment patterns in patients with atrial fibrillation.time in therapeutic range with <70%.PMID:36916815 | DOI:10.5543/tkda.2022.98455

Severe thrombosis of bioprosthesis mitral valve after dabigatran.
Abstract A 41-year-old female was admitted to our hospital with an unidentified source of fever, dyspnea and dizziness. Transthoracic echocardiography demonstrated severe mitral valve regurgitation, and further examination with transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) revealed a 7 mm vegetation on the anterior mitral leaflet. Blood cultures were negative, and after 45 days of empiric 12 g/day ampicillin-sulbactam therapy, the vegetation was shown to have disappeared. However, due to ongoing severe mitral regurgitation and valve deformity, a prosthetic metallic mitral valve replacement was performed. After the operat...

An epidemiological study to evaluate the use of vitamin K antagonists and new oral anticoagulants among non-valvular atrial fibrillation patients in Turkey- AFTER-2 study design.
CONCLUSION: The rates and kind of oral anticoagulant use, TTR in vitamin K antagonist users and main management modality applied in non-valvular AF patients will be determined by AFTER-2 study. In addition, the rate of major adverse events (MACEs) and the independent predictors of these MACEs will be detected (AFTER-2 Study ClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT02354456.). Renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system blockers and cardiovascular outcomes: a meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials.
CONCLUSION: RAAS blockers are superior to medications other than RAAS blockers with respect to impact on CV outcomes in patients with hypertension. ARBs and ACEIs are comparable in terms of these outcomes. PMID: 28106020 [PubMed - in process]

Clinical practices of the management of nonvalvular atrial fibrillation and outcome of treatment: A representative prospective survey in tertiary healthcare centers across Turkey.
CONCLUSION: In atrial fibrillation, despite a high rate of persistence with initial treatment, the outcomes of stroke prevention and patient quality of life are not at the desired level. National health policies should be developed and implemented to better integrate international guidelines for the management of NVAF into clinical practice. PMID: 29512625 [PubMed - in process]

Long-term follow-up outcomes in a real-world study cohort after percutaneous patent foramen ovale closure
CONCLUSION: Percutaneous PFO closure was safe, feasible, and effective. Our study confirmed the efficacy and safety of transthoracic echocardiogram guidance during percutaneous closure of PFO, which shortens the procedure time. A lower RoPE score was related to the recurrence risk of ischemic cerebrovascular events.PMID:33390571 | DOI:10.5543/tkda.2020.06699

Use of TIMI Risk Index as a Simple and Valuable Prognostic Tool in Patients with ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction Who Underwent Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
CONCLUSION: The results of this study indicated that Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction Risk Index value is an independent predictor of clinical outcomes such as death and heart failure but not subsequent myocardial infarction in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction patients. The use of Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction Risk Index can be considered in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction patients who underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention as it is an easily applicable and important indicator of prognosis.PMID:35450843 | DOI:10.5152/tkda.2022.21143
