Dehydration Status Predicts Short-Term and Long-Term Outcomes in Patients with Cerebral Venous Thrombosis
ConclusionsThe present findings indicate that dehydration is an independent predictor for short-term and long-term unfavorable functional outcome in patients with CVT.

External Validation of Hematoma Expansion Scores in Spontaneous Intracerebral Hemorrhage in an Asian Patient Cohort
ConclusionsTo our knowledge, this is the first study to validate HE scores, namely PREDICT, 9-Point and BRAIN, in a multi-ethnic Asian ICH patient population. The PREDICT score was the best performing model in our study cohort, based on the performance metrics employed in this study. Our findings also showed support for CT angiography spot sign as a predictor of outcome after ICH. Although the models assessed are sufficient for risk stratification, the discrimination and calibration are at best moderate and could be improved.

The Full Outline of UnResponsiveness (FOUR) Score and Its Use in Outcome Prediction: A Scoping Systematic Review of the Adult Literature
ConclusionsThe FOUR score has been shown to be a useful outcome predictor in many patients with depressed level of consciousness. It displays good inter-rater reliability among physicians and nurses.

Decompressive Hemicraniectomy in Elderly Patients With Space-Occupying Infarction (DECAP): A Prospective Observational Study
ConclusionsIn this single-center cohort of elderly patients with space-occupying MCA infarction and decompressive hemicraniectomy, the probability for survival without severe disability was low. Lethality at 6 and 12  months was comparable to previously reported data from a randomized trial.

Serum Alkaline Phosphatase Level is Associated with Angiographic Vasospasm, Delayed Cerebral Ischemia-Caused Clinical Deterioration, and Functional Outcome After Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage
ConclusionsElevated serum ALP level is associated with vasospasm, DCI-caused clinical deterioration, and functional outcome after aSAH. Further studies are required to examine the potential role of serum ALP as an outcome predictor for aSAH patients.

Common Data Elements for Unruptured Intracranial Aneurysm and Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Clinical Research: Recommendations from the Working Group on Long-Term Therapies
ConclusionsNoting gaps in the literature regarding medication and rehabilitation parameters in UIA and SAH clinical studies, the current CDE recommendations aim to arouse interest to explore the impact of medication and rehabilitation treatments and therapies and encourage the convergence of LTT clinical study parameters to develop a harmonized standard.

Evidence for Mannitol as an Effective Agent Against Intracranial Hypertension: An Individual Patient Data Meta-analysis
AbstractMannitol is currently used to reduce intracranial pressure (ICP), but the evidence supporting its usefulness has been questioned. We aim to meta-analyze the effectiveness of mannitol in reducing ICP in adult patients with cerebral injuries and its dependency on baseline ICP values, comparing findings from individual patient data (IPD) and aggregated data (AD) meta-analysis performed on the same studies. We searched the Medline database, with no time limitation, through March 1, 2019. We selected studies for which IPD were available, with a before-after design, concerning adult patients with traumatic cerebral hemor...

Prolonged Heightened Blood Pressure Following Mechanical Thrombectomy for Acute Stroke is Associated with Worse Outcomes
ConclusionHigh daily maximum SBP and a rebound SBP on the third day following MT is independently associated with increased likelihood of functional dependence.

Nitric Oxide-Based Treatment of Poor-Grade Patients After Severe Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage
ConclusionsEven in comatose/intubated patients, TCD-guided dual-compartment administration of NO donors probably could reverse macrospasm and seems to be feasible. The number of DCI was much lower than expected in this specific subgroup, indicating that this treatment possibly provides a positive impact on outcomes. A randomized trial should verify or falsify our results.

Gap Analysis Regarding Prognostication in Neurocritical Care: A Joint Statement from the German Neurocritical Care Society and the Neurocritical Care Society
ConclusionsPrognostication in neurocritical care is important, and current prognostic models are limited. This gap analysis provides a summary assessment of issues that could be addressed in future studies and evidence-based guidelines in order to improve the process of prognostication.

Vitamin K Antagonist (Phenprocoumon) and Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: A Single-Center, Matched-Pair Analysis
ConclusionPatients with phenprocoumon treatment at the time of SAH are significantly older, admission status is worse, and 30-day mortality rates are significantly higher compared to patients without anticoagulant treatment. However, outcome at 6  months did not differ to the matched-pair control group but seems to be strongly associated with the underlying cardiovascular disease. Treatment of these patients is challenging and should be performed on an interdisciplinary base in each individual case. Careful decision-making regarding discont inuation and bridging of anticoagulation and close observation is mandatory.
