Long-term Outcomes of Concomitant Surgical Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation
CONCLUSIONS: Concomitant atrial fibrillation ablation during cardiac surgery is safe, does not increase the rate of perioperative complications, and confers the benefit of long-term survival after cardiac surgery in adults. Atrial fibrillation ablation also improved cardiac surgery patients' long-term survival compared with the matched general atrial fibrillation population.PMID:36216085 | DOI:10.1016/j.athoracsur.2022.09.036

Excess Re-intervention with Mitroflow Prosthesis for AVR: Ten-year Outcomes of a Randomized Trial
CONCLUSIONS: The Magna valve had the lowest gradients and largest AVAi with larger implant sizes. The Mitroflow bioprosthesis is associated with increased rate of re-intervention and possible increased risk of infection compared to Magna and Epic valves.PMID:36183748 | DOI:10.1016/j.athoracsur.2022.09.031

Selective Sinus Replacement for Aortic Root Aneurysm: Durable Approach in Selected Patients
CONCLUSIONS: For patients with sinus of Valsalva or asymmetric root aneurysm, SSR is associated with excellent operative outcomes, and mid-term follow-up suggests the technique is durable. Longer-term follow-up is needed to confirm continued stability of the aortic root.PMID:35872034 | DOI:10.1016/j.athoracsur.2022.05.071

The Impact of Aortic Root Enlargement on Patients undergoing Aortic Valve Replacement
CONCLUSIONS: ARE can be safely performed with isolated AVR and should be considered for patients with small annuli to avoid prosthesis-patient mismatch.PMID:35777500 | DOI:10.1016/j.athoracsur.2022.05.052

Clinical Course of Postoperative Atrial Fibrillation After Cardiac Surgery and Long-Term Outcome
CONCLUSIONS: A more complicated POAF course is associated with increased long-term risk for heart failure hospitalization, but not for all-cause mortality or thromboembolic complications.PMID:35430224 | DOI:10.1016/j.athoracsur.2022.03.062
