Uptake of signposting to web-based resources: pregnant women's use of a preventive web-based intervention
CONCLUSION: The data offer unique opportunities to assess the utilisation of a web-based mental health-promotion intervention following advice from a clinician. This study draws conclusions about which patients are likely to access similar resources and which practice characteristics encourage their use.TRIAL REGISTRATION: Registered in clinicaltrials.gov, Trial number: NCT04129359 Date of registration: 16/10/2019 ( https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04129359 ).PMID:37716967 | PMC:PMC10504765 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-023-02130-5

The SOFIA pilot study: assessing feasibility and fidelity of coordinated care to reduce excess mortality and increase quality of life in patients with severe mental illness in a general practice setting; a cluster-randomised pilot trial
CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that delivering the coordinated care program in a fully powered trial in primary care is likely feasible. However, the recruitment methodology requires improvement to ensure sufficient recruitment and minimize selective inclusion.TRIAL REGISTRATION: The date of pilot trial protocol registration was 05/11/2020, and the registration number is NCT04618250.PMID:37715123 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-023-02141-2

Determinants of access to general practice in a shared care model for people living with HIV: a qualitive study of patients' perspectives in an Australian rural community
CONCLUSIONS: Navigating patient priorities and anticipated stigma in general practice within the resource limitations of rural healthcare were barriers to effective shared care. General practitioners' ability to build rapport and long-term relationships with participants was instrumental in the perception of valuable care. Strategies are required to secure continuity of care with interpersonally skilled general practitioners to ensure provision of quality primary care for people living with HIV, which can be supported by specialist physicians in a shared care model.PMID:37674116 | PMC:PMC10483738 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-023-02142-1

General practice registrars training part-time: a cross-sectional analysis of prevalence and associations
Educ Prim Care. 2023 Sep 6:1-10. doi: 10.1080/14739879.2023.2248943. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWhile GPs are working fewer clinical hours and many GP trainees (registrars) do not foresee themselves working full-time in clinical practice, little is known of the epidemiology of registrars training part-time. We aimed to establish the prevalence of general practice part-time training (PTT), and part-time registrars' characteristics and practice patterns. A cross-sectional analysis was conducted of data from the Registrar Clinical Encounters in Training project, an ongoing cohort study of Australian GP registrars' clinical...

Supporting primary care through symptom checking artificial intelligence: a study of patient and physician attitudes in Italian general practice
CONCLUSIONS: The findings suggest a positive reception of the symptom checker, albeit with differing focus between patients and physicians. With the potential to be integrated further into primary care, these tools require meticulous clinical guidance to maximize their benefits.TRIAL REGISTRATION: The study was not registered, as it did not include direct medical intervention on human participants.PMID:37661285 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-023-02143-0

Quick adaptation of the organisation of general practices during the COVID-19 pandemic in the Netherlands
CONCLUSIONS: The pandemic itself, remote care and stricter patient flow management have put pressure on the quality of care and patient safety. The accessibility of the practices was sometimes limited. In the perception of patients, this was stronger than in reality.PMID:37653405 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-023-02114-5
