Study protocol of a telephone problem-solving intervention for Spanish-speaking caregivers of veterans post-stroke: an 8-session investigator-blinded, two-arm parallel (intervention vs usual care), randomized clinical trial
This study tests the impact of a telephone and online problem-solving intervention for Spanish-speaking stroke caregivers on caregiver outcomes.METHODS: The design is a two-arm parallel randomized clinical trial with repeated measures. We will enroll 290 caregivers from 3 Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers. Therapeutic Dilemma of Wake-up Stroke: Clinical and Brain Imaging Characteristics and Reperfusion as a Treatment Option
Conclusions: Only minor dissimilarities between clinical and radiologic features of WUS and clear-onset stroke were found. Circadian patterns of stroke onset were observed in both groups. Stroke was more likely to occur during waking than during sleep, and a diurnal pattern of common occurrence during the morning was documented. Recognition of the acceptable timeframe for acute reperfusion therapy in unwitnessed strokes is crucial so that thrombolytic treatment can be started for these patients.PMID:36441986 | DOI:10.4088/PCC.21m03216

Association of hypnotics with stroke risk: a population-based case-control study.
CONCLUSIONS: This study shows that, in a case-control study matched for age, gender, and comorbidities using multiple logistic regression and sensitivity tests, zolpidem and estazolam were slightly associated with an increased risk of stroke. Further large-scale and in-depth studies should be performed. Use of hypnotics should always be determined by specialists, and adverse effects should be continuously monitored.

Level of awareness regarding stroke among Riyadh population
CONCLUSION: This study found that the majority of participants had a high level of awareness regarding stroke. Regarding the education level of the participants, we found that the majority of participants with primary school-level education had a high level of awareness regarding stroke risk factors. Furthermore, we found that the level of awareness about prevention of stroke was moderate among participants. Forty-four-year longitudinal study of stroke incidence and risk factors - the Prospective Population Study of Women in Gothenburg
CONCLUSIONS: Several classic risk factors showed independent associations with stroke. Vulnerability factors as low education and oral health, reflected by loss of teeth, also showed association with stroke. Enhancing the role of the social network in activity (re)engagement post-stroke: a focus group study with rehabilitation professionals
CONCLUSIONS: Strategies to involve the social network of people post-stroke are not fully implemented. Although identifying members of a social network should begin during inpatient rehabilitation, the main part of actively engaging the network will have to take place when the people post-stroke return home.
