Procedural Results with the Self‐Expanding 31 mm CoreValve Aortic Bioprosthesis in Patients with Large Annuli
ConclusionDespite the technical challenges, procedural results with the 31 mm self‐expanding CoreValve prosthesis in large anatomies were similar to those with the smaller sized 29 mm version of the device. However, postinterventional pacemaker rates were significantly higher in the 31 mm cohort despite comparable implantation depths, which might be the result of the specific design of the device.

Impact on Prognosis of Periprocedural Bleeding after TAVI: Mid‐Term Follow‐Up of a Multicenter Prospective Study
ConclusionPeriprocedural bleeding after TAVI was frequent and associated with an increased mortality after 30 days but not after mid‐term follow‐up. A preprocedural GFR < 30 ml/min was the most important predictor of bleeding, enabling risk stratification and choice of approach for these patients.

Outcome of Early Revascularization Surgery in Patients with ST‐Elevation Myocardial Infarction
ConclusionsIn patients with ST‐elevation myocardial infarction who required emergency coronary artery bypass surgery, there was no difference in procedure complications or mortality between early (within 24 hours) or later (more than 24 hours). That was noted at one month and one year after the index myocardial infarction.

Safety of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation in a Hospital With Visiting On‐Site Cardiac Surgery
ConclusionsTAVI can be done safely in the setting of a hospital with visiting on‐site cardiac surgery. This requires careful patient selection, experienced operators and surgeons in experienced centers with well‐established criteria and processes of care. In this setting, it may be an option for hospitals without institutional cardiac surgery. (J Interven Cardiol 2015;28:76–81)

First Experience With the New Generation Edwards Sapien 3 Aortic Bioprosthesis: Procedural Results and Short Term Outcome
ConclusionsImplantation of the new third generation Sapien 3 device resulted in excellent procedural and short term outcome. Significant paravalvular regurgitation was virtually absent. However, the increased rate of postinterventional pacemaker implantations needs to be analyzed in a larger cohort of patients. (J Interven Cardiol 2015;28:109–116)

Aspiration Thrombectomy in Patients Undergoing Primary Angioplasty for ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction: An Updated Meta‐Analysis
ConclusionRoutine AT prior to PPCI in STEMI is associated with higher risk of stroke. There is no statistical difference in clinical outcome parameters of mortality, major adverse cardiac events, target vessel revascularization, stent thrombosis, and net clinical benefit between AT and PCI alone. Recurrent and Residual Shunts After Patent Foramen Ovale Closure: Results From a Long‐Term Transcranial Doppler Study
ConclusionA significant number of recurrent and residual shunts may be observed by cTCD up to 5 years after PFO closure. Management of late RLSs includes periodic re‐evaluation, exclusion of device‐induced complications or secondary sources of RLS, and optimization of antithrombotic treatment with or without a second intervention. Real‐World Multicenter Registry of Patients with Severe Coronary Artery Calcification Undergoing Orbital Atherectomy
ConclusionIn the largest real‐world study of patients who underwent orbital atherectomy, including high‐risk patients who were not surgical candidates as well as those with very complex coronary anatomy, acute and short‐term adverse clinical event rates were low. A randomized clinical trial is needed to identify the ideal treatment strategy for patients with severe CAC.
