Association Between Objectively Measured Physical Activity and Cognitive Function in Older Adults—The Reasons for Geographic and Racial Differences in Stroke Study
ConclusionHigher levels of objectively measured MVPA%, rather than LPA% or ST%, were associated with lower prevalence of cognitive impairment and better performance in memory and executive function in aging people. The amount of MVPA associated with lower prevalence of cognitive impairment is consistent with meeting PA guidelines.

Newly Developed Chronic Conditions and Changes in Health‐Related Quality of Life in Postmenopausal Women
ConclusionThe more conditions a woman developed, the greater reduction in HRQoL she experienced. Declines in HRQoL in women with stroke, cancer, and some combinations exceeded MCID. Findings from this study might lead to more‐effective patient‐centered approaches to health care for women with multiple chronic conditions.

Infectious Burden and Cognitive Decline in the Northern Manhattan Study
ConclusionA quantitative stroke risk‐weighted measure of IB explained variability in baseline executive function performance and associated with decline in memory. Past exposure to common infections may contribute to vascular cognitive impairment and warrants further study.

Lower Extremity Proximal Muscle Function and Dyspnea in Older Persons
ConclusionPoor performance on a single chair stand was associated with an adjusted 85% greater likelihood of moderate to severe exertional dyspnea than normal performance. These results suggest that reduced proximal muscle function of the lower extremities is associated with moderate to severe exertional dyspnea, even after adjusting for multiple confounders.

Metabolic Burden and Disease and Mortality Risk Associated with Impaired Fasting Glucose in Elderly Adults
ConclusionIFG was an intermediary condition for heart disease, inflammation, and oxidative stress in elderly adults but not for 2‐year incident disease or all‐cause mortality. Longer‐term prospective studies are needed to clarify whether IFG in elderly adults portends greater morbidity and mortality.
