TAVI: Boston Scientific’s Lotus valve tops Medtronic’s CoreValve – study
Data from a study of Boston Scientific‘s (NYSE:BSX) Lotus Valve showed a greater device success rate than Medtronic‘s (NYSE:MDT) CoreValve in high-risk transcatheter aortic valve replacement patients. The single-center, non-randomized study, published this month in the journal JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions, compared outcomes from 50 high-risk TAVI patients treated with the Lotus valve and 50 similar patients treated with Medtronic’s self-expanding CoreValve device. New Watchman study reports positive data
New data from a study of Boston Scientific (NYSE:BSX)’s Watchman left atrial appendage closure device reports positive results in a study comparing it to warfarin, an anticoagulant drug treatment, in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation. Study: Afib doubles stroke risk after surgery
Surgical patients who experience atrial fibrillation may see a doubled stroke risk in the months following their procedure, according to a new study published in JAMA. Results from a new study suggest that atrial fibrillation (AF) may pose a significant threat to patients undergoing surgery, especially those having non-cardiac procedures.
