Recurrent Strokes in Giant Cell Arteritis: Treatment Dilemma (P4.374)
Conclusions: Steroid resistant, aggressive GCA cases can lead to severe extracranial vasculopathy, dissection, recurrent strokes, and death. Thus we suggest that aggressive immunosuppression be considered early, particularly if complicated with arterial dissection and stroke. These patients may benefit from other potent immunosuppressant drugs such as disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs, acyclovir, or monoclonal antibodies.Disclosure: Dr. Yadala has nothing to disclose.
