The North American Symptomatic Carotid Endarterectomy Trial (NASCET) and European Carotid Surgery Trial (ECST) have shown that symptomatic carotid stenosis greater than 70% is best treated with CEA. Hybrid strategy for unstable patients with severe carotid and cardiac disease requiring surgery.
