Synthesis and study of new siderophore analog-ciprofloxacin conjugates with antibiotic activities against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Burkholderia spp
Eur J Med Chem. 2022 Nov 13;245(Pt 2):114921. doi: 10.1016/j.ejmech.2022.114921. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAntibacterial resistance is a healthcare burden. Among Gram-negative bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa belongs to the first list of antibiotic-resistant "priority pathogens" described by the World Health Organization. Formerly Pseudomonas pseudomallei, Burkholderia pseudomallei, responsible for melioidosis, is considered as a potential bioterrorist weapon by the Centers of Diseases Control and Prevention. We are interested in the development of new ways to combat these bacteria, targeted due to their high level of ...

Discovery of inhibition of < em > Burkholderia cenocepacia, Pseudomonas aeruginosa < /em > and < em > Stenotrophomonas maltophilia < /em > by the Brown Rot Basidiomycete Fungus, < em > Postia placenta < /em >
This study wished to explore the production of antibacterial extracellular metabolites from plant pathogenic fungi. Fungal Culture Extracts (FCEs) were prepared from 10 fungi (Armillaria gallica, Clitocybe nebularis, Fusarium coeruleum, Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium poae, Hymenoscyphus fraxineus, Nectria f.eliana, Phytophthora infestans, Phytophthora ramorum, Postia placenta), which were tested for activity against the CF pathogens, Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) (n=8), Burkholderia cenocepacia (n=2) and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia (n=2). In addition, FCE were assessed for their ability to alter antibiotic susceptibility in P...
